Situated on a bluff on the east bank of the Hudson River, Boscobel House & Gardens offers its visitors inspirational and astounding views of the river and the Hudson Highlands. Completed in 1808 for the States Dyckman family, Boscobel House is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of Federal architecture in the country.
Boscobel’s experienced docents guide visitors through a step back in time with tours of Boscobel House.
The grounds – a magnificent rose garden, orangery, herb garden, springhouse, pond, fountain and woodland trail, complete with rustic cedar structures and glorious scenery – are open for independent strolling and picnicking. Also available is a self-guided audio tour of historic Hudson Valley stories, narrated by local legends, such as Pete Seeger.
Boscobel offers a variety of children’s programs and events, as well, either in-person at Boscobel or in the classroom with Boscobel’s Museum Educator. Educational programs at Boscobel provide students with an opportunity to engage with a wide range of topics including economic and social history, art appreciation, historical and contemporary environmental issues and more.
When at Boscobel, stop by the Visitors Center in the Carriage House to view a fascinating exhibit on the rescue and restoration of Boscobel, and sneak a little shopping in, too. Boscobel’s Museum Gift Shop offers unique and interesting items for all.
Boscobel’s Exhibition Gallery, located on the lower level of the mansion, is a calm and peaceful space showcasing exceptional (seasonal) art exhibits.
Boscobel is open April through December every day except Tuesdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas. For more information, including hours, directions and a calendar of events, please visit www.boscobel.org.

Brook Hollows Barnyard
http://www.brookhollowfarm.com/index.cfm
Tues-Sun 10- 5 pm
301 Rockaway Valley Rd
Boonton Twp, NJ 07005
On the first Saturday in May Brookhollow Farm welcomes onlookers to the fascinating experience of observing shearing. This is the time when alpacas from various farms are brought to Brookhollow for an incomparable shearing experience. Many able bodies are on hand to ease the stress of shearing for these alpacas and their owners.
In 1999, the Johanson Family made our first pilgrimage to an alpaca farm. It was love at first sight. Within a few days of that visit, Brookhollow Farm bought our first four alpacas and our foray into alpaca farming had begun. This number has grown exponentially to a herd size of approximately 130, featuring some of the finest alpacas in the country. Brookhollow’s purchase of Snowmass Invincible,Snowmass Nova and Snowmass Midnight Magic, whose world class genetics make them top-of-the-line among elite herdsires, brought national recognition to our farm. We further enhanced our breeding stock by purchasing some of the finest females in the country. Their crias are proving the wisdom of that decision. The Johanson Family is justifiably proud of our high class herd and welcomes visitors to meet Brookhollow’s high society girls and their equally superb crias.

Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk CT- Review in the Works!!
http://www.maritimeaquarium.org/
10 North Water Street
Norwalk, CT 06854
10-5 pm
The Maritime Aquarium is different from most aquariums in that we focus solely on one body of water: Long Island Sound, the “Estuary of National Significance” just outside our doors. As an arm of the Atlantic Ocean, the Sound is an environment rich in aquatic life … even within sight of heavily urbanized New York City.
The marine population that we exhibit includes varieties of crabs, lobsters, mollusks (like delicious and economically important oysters and clams), game fish, jellies, sea turtles, sharks (big and small) and – in the winter – visiting seals.

Wow believes that early childhood learning is the foundation and an essential factor in becoming a nurturing and creative individual. What and how they learn should not be restricted only to a classroom and textbooks, but rather they should constantly be exposed to new knowledge while they engage in fun plays and other activities throughout the day. WOW’s mission is to provide a space where a child’s mind can freely wander with curiosity, wonder and imagination as they interact with new innovative technology and by participating in creative activities. Another important mission is to create an environment where they can learn to appreciate and value the life and nature of living things by visiting our specially designed butterfly atrium and animal exhibits. WOW members hope to provide each child with a unique one-of-a-kind experience that will enable him or her to envision a higher standard of learning and living for the future.
