Proved Me Wrong

Posted on March 2, 2018 by RocklandNYMom Posted in Photography, Reviews, Uncategorized .

Disclosure:  This is a sponsored post.  All opinions expressed are my own.

I have to be completely honest.  Up until last year, I had seen Jennifer Tesker Photography’s “Be You” sessions and thought, “yeah they are stunning, but not my style.”  I’ve always been a everyone get together and smile type of mom.  I love the perfect family photo, with the kids and the dogs, something that reminds me how truly lucky I am, especially on tough days. Well, after I saw Ashley’s photos last year, I thought yeah I like those I’ll give it a try.  So this year when they came up we jumped at the opportunity.

The session itself was so nice and low key.  I didn’t have to sit there and try to get my kids to smile, if they did cool, if not- that’s cool too.  This session is meant to be a reminder of who your kids TRULY are.  Their goofy moments, their serious moments, their joyous ones.  The faces they make on a daily basis, that you want to remember forever.  There is a lot of laughing during these sessions.  I got to sit comfortably on the couch and just watch.  I knew immediately that Jennifer had gotten some amazing shots as I sat there but was unprepared for the real thing.

JPT behind the scenes 1

JTP behind the scenes 2

Not two days later Jennifer posted a “teaser” on her Facebook page for me (she’s so quick with turnaround).  I was hooked.  I remembered the exact moment that it was taken, what was going on, the giggles.  My heart melted.  I wasted no time in making it my profile photo, not just for my personal page, but for my business pages as well.

Be You- Sharing-17

Waiting for the viewing session was TORTURE.  I knew it would be good, so I invited my mother.  Well, true to every experience I have ever had with Jennifer, the photos are breathtaking.  I mean, I am having a TERRIBLE week, and I sat on her couch and cried (no worries she had tissues next to me).  She captured my kids exactly as they are.  She captured their signature looks.  I watched the video 3 times before I could even proceed with the rest of the viewing.  My mother who is a traditionalist as well, was floored.  She had no problem laughing and smiling and picking her favorites.

Be You- Sharing-1

Be You- Sharing-7
We had to narrow them down to the ones we wanted to order products for and OH MY GOSH this was a task.  I mean, EACH AND EVERY photo was spot on.  It was a memory of what my kids do EVERY DAY.  Its no surprise then that the first time through we picked 24!!! Upon working at it again were able to get it down to 12, that’s when it got even harder.

JTP Choices Choices

Yeah I am not going to lie, I ended up with all of them.  It had to be done and I am not sorry.  There was just no way to narrow it down further.  I can’t even decide how I am going to display them, but I am going to. I can’t get over the silly faces they made when she said to do something they think is silly and like to do.  I can’t get over the smiles when they were losing their minds over someones “toot” during the session.   I can’t get over how suave my little man has become.  How beautiful and tough my little lady is.

This “BE YOU” session captures the essence of its subjects.  Every single shot.

So I’ve shared a bunch with you because they are just so awesome, but I am making you wait on some others, because I am going to show you the video- Its right here.  Its sure to make you laugh and smile, and if you love it as much as I do- Give Jennifer a call, because as soon as people start seeing these photos (mine and the other ones shes done) she is going to book fast. Meet Marco Farsetta Photography

Posted on September 20, 2017 by RocklandNYMom Posted in Party, Photography, Reviews, Services, Uncategorized .

Disclosure:  This is a sponsored post all opinions expressed are our own.

I love helping people get started.  I love watching people do what they love.  So when one of my very own students got in touch with me and said he wanted to start REALLY pursuing photography I was SO excited for him.  He’s been dabbling since last year (to my knowledge), and I watched as this summer he landed a few jobs and completed them to rave reviews.  Marco knows that I help photographers get the word about their most recent offerings out, as well as show some examples of work, and asked if he could take some photos of the kids to promote his talent.  I obliged.

He wanted to do something fun so he chose to go down to Nyack Beach.  Here’s how it went.

The kids loved him.  They were themselves around him.  He got some shots I can’t even believe.  They were so real, they really showcased how my kids are together, he rarely even posed them.  He took SOOOO many photos.

Once the session was over, I had no idea what his turn around time looked like, or how he edited.  Well, I got some hysterical photos- who knew he caught my (E) punching (A) in the nose, or laughing at him hysterically?  Caught them walking hand in hand, and in a warm embrace.  He even caught a photo of (A) after he landed flat in the water.

I didn’t know what to expect when he came to show me the edited pics but I was also pleasantly surprised to see that he had looked up some super cool quotes, and added them to a few of the photos.  He also picked a few and changed their coloring (B&W etc) which I didn’t expect him to do.  Photos were delivered on a USB drive that is easy to keep track of, and he even came offering packages for ordering prints and/or canvases.  I didn’t expect him to be so well prepared and professional.

His work speaks for itself- I was very pleased, his turn around time was also less than a week.  His pricing is reasonable, and his attitude great.  Marco was a pleasure to work with.

Here’s the skinny.  He will be booking LIMITED amounts of sessions (as he is still in school).  Attached is his upcoming session info. Book early of you will miss out.  He’s interested in diversifying his portfolio, so fee free to bring extended family, book him for parties, bring pets etc- but he is NOT attempting infants at this time.

MF Photography Fall 2017

I cannot wait to see how his work develops as he continues to learn his craft.  I will certainly be back to have him shoot the kids again, maybe even the family.

Newborn Session with IC You Photography

Posted on March 1, 2017 by Ashley Carmichael Posted in Photography, Reviews, Uncategorized .

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post

I used IC You photography for a Daddy and Me mini session about 2 years ago and I was thrilled with the results! Through out my pregnancy, I kept seeing Isabella post the most adorable shots from her newborn sessions and knew I just had to work with her again when Baby H arrived.

Screen Shot 2017-02-13 at 12.44.58 PM

Isabella encouraged me to come up with ideas/vision of what I wanted and send her pictures. Since we did know the sex of Baby H, it was hard to narrow down my ideas. I thought she was starting to regret telling me this after a week or so of my constant “Oh my gosh! How cute is this?” emails, but she wasn’t! She was just excited as I was, shooting ideas back to me as well.

When H was born rounding our little family out with 3 boys, I knew there was only one way to capture his newborn stage. Big Brothers W and S can name every construction vehicle, emergency vehicle, car and truck on the road (and now so can I), so I thought using one of their oversized trucks would be perfect!

henry-4
We had to reschedule a few times due to a few bumps in the road in the beginning with Baby H and Isabella was more than accommodating. We arrived the day of our session and Isabella was so excited! She has tons of props and outfits to use if you want. She warmed up the room so H was comfy and sleepy. (Well, we tried to make him sleepy)

The day of the session H was far from compliant. He was cranky, over tired and didn’t want cooperate. My older boys were still adjusting to the new baby so they were acting out for extra attention.  Isabella quickly got pictures of the brothers all together and sent the big boys home with Dad. H an I continued the shoot for another hour or so.

I was nervous with how the kids were behaving if she was even able to capture anything worth framing.   She kept reassuring me that she had great shots, and even sent me a few sneak peeks. H being my last (yes, yes I mean it this time!) baby, I was obsessed with making sure to get good newborn and family pictures. So before I even received the images, I booked a fall mini-session to try again!

henrry-1

henry-3

… I should’ve trusted Isabella!  Not only are the pictures from the newborn session AMAZING, so are the pictures from the mini-session!

henry-8

Isabella is a skilled artist and knows what she is doing. Of course, things don’t always go according to plan; kids don’t behave, the weather wasn’t perfect, whatever it is but please, trust the process.

Trust your photographer, she is looking through the lens and sees things differently. She doesn’t see you kid being crazy (well maybe a little) but she also sees that one smile and can capture it, that one perfect snuggle between baby and big brother.

IC You photography is starting to book Spring Mini Sessions!

Attention to Detail- Jennifer Tesker Photography Review

Posted on July 5, 2016 by RocklandNYMom Posted in Photo Obsessed, Photography, Reviews, Uncategorized .

Disclosure:  This is a sponsored post.  All opinions expressed are my own.

RNYM really prides itself in having the BEST photographers directory available.  We have the most talented photographers, and here’s why.

From the moment I saw Jennifer Tesker’s “spring mini” setup I knew I was in love.  It was so fresh and breezy.  So soft and innocent.

I see lots of great photos of my kids… I take a lot of photos… not all of them affect me the way that these did.  I cried during my viewing session.  This video was precious.  It really captured the essence of my children- individually- and with each other.

Here have a look…

I love to shoot with Jennifer because of her attention to detail and super professionalism (she is also a sweetheart).  She is METICULOUS, not only in her unbelievable photographs but in her business dealings as well.  Jennifer is a FULL-SERVICE photographer.

Jen loves her work, its evident when you enter her studio how proud she is of her images and the happiness she creates.

JTP Studio

Her booking process is streamlined, quick and easy.  She sends reminder emails to make sure you have the date, time and place all set.  She is happy to work with you on your clothing options (which always makes me so anxious, yep we went back and forth figuring out the right look).

When we came for the mini-session (mini sessions are 20 minutes in contrast to a full session which is longer) she was all set up with the most beautiful spring display.  The kids respond so well to her, always have.  I literally am able to walk away and not watch the process.  She asks them to re situate, and they comply, they want to please her (and then stay and play with her girls).  It took her only 15 minutes to snag the most amazing photos of my kids.

Within 24 hours she posted a “teaser” on Facebook for me to swoon over.  I was so impressed I changed my profile picture right then and there.

Bogart-Web-1

What follows is part of the process that the general public doesn’t get to see.  Lots of time I see people complain that photos are “too expensive”, or that “anyone can take these kinds of pictures with a good camera.”  I’d like to take this opportunity to DEBUNK that.

When your photographer is finished taking the photographs they go home and weed through them.  Jennifer took over 125 photos during our session.  The result of her hard work was the best 15 images.  Not only are they the best images, but Jen also had to edit them to perfect them.  She does this in PAINSTAKING DETAIL.  For instance, little (E) has great hair, with layered wisps and fabulous curls- but they end up in her face OFTEN.  In our perfect photos too.  Jen spends HOURS editing to  remove fly-aways so you can focus on the beauty that is the photo.

JTP- Emmie before and afterOnce she is done obsessing over these images, she gives options, she turns them into black and white so that you can see how it would look the other way.  Once she has completed all of this to HER SATISFACTION.  You get another email.

This email invites you to attend a viewing session where you will see a personalized video of your images, and then discuss options as far as purchasing digital images, prints, and some other truly fabulous photo gifts.  I am slightly obsessed with the personalized photo box that holds your images.  The box is great quality and the photos inside are mounted and safe to handle, they are meant to be looked at OFTEN.

Jen offers these products both as Packages or “a la carte” where you can pick and choose the images/products that you would like.   This allows her to work with  any available budget.  When you purchase all the images you get a thumb drive with not only the images- but also the copy of your video.  She takes all types of payments, and can even do a payment plan where you receive your purchase when it is paid in full.  Since people often change their minds and come back to purchase more, Jen also holds on to your purchased images for 1 year and unpurchased for 3 months so you have time to come back.

Jen wants you to print your pictures and display them, not keep them locked on a thumb drive or cd.  This is one reason that she is a full service photographer.  In fact, so many of her clients are worried about getting the photos placed correctly that for a FULL session she will also help you to design your gallery wall (you have to see how she does that- but I can’t tell- its a secret).

The turn around for all of this is really very quick, especially when you take into consideration the amount of time it takes to edit and prepare your presentation.  Jennifer is a true professional who loves her job.  She adores each and every client that she works with. She beams while showing you your images, and is even more excited when you return for your next session, so that she can document your families growth year to year.

JENNIFER HAS JUST ANNOUNCED HER AMAZING SUMMER SESSIONS!!! HOW CUE ARE THESE???

A Royal Christmas Spectacular- REVIEW!!

Posted on December 10, 2015 by RocklandNYMom Posted in Christmas 2015, Events, Out and about..., Party, Photography, Reviews .

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post.  All opinions expressed are my own.

Last year we went to the Glamour Girls Story time with Mrs. Claus (see review), so when I read about the Royal Christmas Spectacular, I KNEW this was going to be a fantastic event!  The flyer promised princesses, Captain Hook, Peter Pan, The Clauses, professional photos and more fun that you can shake a stick at!  Boy did they deliver.

Upon entering the Pearl River Elks Club we were escorted to our table by Belle.  My little (E) was immediately captivated.  Belle bent down to speak to her, and she took the cue to sit on the floor with her and have a chat.  The funny thing is, (E) never actually said anything, she just sat there holding her hands and staring.  It was MAGICAL.

Emme Belle Talk

A quick glance of the room showed a buffet full of delicious breakfast items, a photography station manned by Butterfly Kisses Photography with two different backdrops complete with adorable props, activity tables along the perimeter, a DJ (Total Djs) up on the stage, and tables for all of the royal attendees.

Royal Christmas Spectacular 003

Royal Christmas Spectacular 006

Once everyone was in the room we were introduced to all the Characters by Mrs. Claus who was our MC for the evening.  All the kids were then invited to sit on the dance floor as a few of them sang us their signature songs.  Well, with a group of kids this could have gone either way… with this group, they were entranced.  The singing was quite good and the kids were really into it!!  They sat while Belle, Captain Hook, Ariel, and Peter Pan each took their turn singing.  Once they had all had their solos they got together and started singing “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”.  At the end while everyone in the room was singing, the big man himself made his appearance!!!

Royal Christmas Spectacular 039Santa took his time shaking hands and waving, stopping for photos and talking to each child.  He then went over and took photos with Butterfly Kisses Photography’s Photographer Jillian.  Throughout the event, people who had purchased the photo package were called to take photos with their favorite character.  (E) made sure to jump in with Ariel, and The Arandale Sisters (wink).

There were stations assigned to the guest tables by time slot and Total DJs kept the atmosphere appropriate and fun throughout.  We made our way to the tattoo station, the ice cream sundaes, the games and stories, and the craft station.  Each activity was age appropriate and fun. A special shout out must go to Captain Hook who (A) paled around the whole time arguing that he was a bad guy as Hook proclaimed his renewed innocence. He loved it!

Royal Christmas Spectacular 054

Royal Christmas Spectacular 064

The highlight of our time there had to be watching the faces of the kids as they interacted with the different characters.  They were all so precious.  My favorites (I am a little biased) was watching (A) pretend sword fight with Hook and (E) dancing with Belle (which I luckily captured on video-check out our YouTube Channel to see).

Royal Christmas Spectacular 037

Royal Christmas Spectacular 024

A great time was had by all.  The kids were so happy that when we got home (A) decided that he wanted to write Santa a Thank You letter for sending us the tickets.  THIS IS HUGE!!! (A) strongly dislikes writing, its not “his favorite”.  The fact that he wanted to WRITE a letter thanking him was HUGE!!  This has solidified to me that this was a fantastic event.

Santa Thank you

RNYM 2015 Holiday Photos!

Posted on November 24, 2015 by RocklandNYMom Posted in Christmas 2015, Photography, Reviews, RNYM's Picks .

Disclosure:  This is a sponsored post.  All opinions expressed are my own.  WE HAD TO SHARE OUR #ROCKLANDNYMOMTREETIME2015 PHOTOS WITH YOU!!!

ONCE a year I ask that RNYD take a family photo with me and the kids.  Its tough for me too, I don’t really like the focus to be on me.  This year we decided to do it at Christmas.  Kate Garland of Kennedy Grace Photography was holding sessions at Emerich Tree Farm in Warwick and it was a perfect time.  We also wanted to make sure our pup (Duncan) could be there, so the outdoor session was PERFECTION!

One of the things I love about Kate is that she always has great ideas for places to take photos.  This tree farm was so perfect, I couldn’t have asked for anything better.  The kids got to fun around and be themselves, and so did Duncan.  It was beautiful and relaxing for the whole family.

I will let these do the talking:

Due to the popular demand of her sessions at the tree farm, she was forced to add 5 sessions last weekend.  Now that those are over and people have seen them, they have asked for more.  Here she goes.  Kate has added new sessions Called “Holidays at Home“.  These sessions will focus on how your family prepares.  She will come and take photos of your family decorating the tree, making cookies, wrapping presents, putting up lights, dining around the table.. whatever you would like.  These #lifestyle sessions promise to be special, memorable and really document your family dynamic.  Check out her Webpage for more info http://www.kennedygracephotography.com/

Not Your Typical Birthday Photos-IC You Photography Review

Posted on September 17, 2015 by RocklandNYMom Posted in Photo Obsessed, Photography, Reviews, Uncategorized .

Disclosure:  This is a sponsored post. All opinions expressed are my own.

Here at RNYM we have a FANTASTIC Photographers Directory.  Every single one of them is super talented.  Even better is that they are all so very different.  They all offer specials for different types of photos, and each one specializes in specific types or styles of photography- no two are the same.  When IC You Photography joined our offerings I was beyond thrilled.

I spoke with Isabella and together we decided on the timing for our session.  We would do some special photos for the kids birthdays’ (7 days apart).  We were delayed once due to weather and she as quick to reschedule. In between our scheduling and the actual session Isabella asked what the themes for their parties were and we discussed outfits.  She also then informed me that she would have some surprises for me and the kids and that we should bring anything else that the kids wanted to include.

I was directed to the location that Isabella and Claudia had chosen.  It was easy to find and I had her cell number to reach her in case I found myself lost.  True to her word there were many really cool surprises.  Not only had they purchased banners that coordinated with their respective themes, they had found other fabulous props, and even MADE some special ones for each child.  Isabella and Claudia took turns photographing and worked together well.  When the kids were less than cooperative (come on they are 2 and 5) they helped each other out by making the kids smile.  They even took the time to sword fight with them.

A few behind the scenes shots of Isabella and Claudia with the kids.

In real life, the atmosphere was beautiful and fun.  In the photos, its breathtaking, magical, and still so fun.  The series of photos for the kids really reflects who they are.

(E) is so silly, and so adorable even playing a game of “peek-a-boo”,  as well as showing off her favorite stuffed animal Skye.

They were even able to get an amazing photo of the two of them together (so, so, so difficult to do).

wmEmmaBirthday-8

I really enjoy these photos.  I am glad to have documented this stage in their lives, and I love that these pictures aren’t the same photos everyone else has that mark milestones.  They are unique, because the photographers are unique.

For example, do you see this photo of (A)?  He is so proud, having so much fun… Then, they made it glow for him.

5starwars-12wm

Things to keep in mind.  If you have a specific idea or something you want to incorporate into your photos, speak up.  This time I didn’t have anything specific but for my next photo-shoot I have something awesome that I would like to do (a little surprise for RNYD).  Also, keep in mind that photographers need time to comb through images and edit, so if they say 4 weeks until you get images, they mean 4 weeks.  You will be glad that they spent the extra time on your photos in the end, BUT plan accordingly.  If you need images for a certain date, book well in advance.

Stay tuned for Christmas Minis and other specials.  At this time they are booking fall  and Halloween minis!

The Perfect Gift

Posted on May 20, 2015 by RocklandNYMom Posted in Photography, Reviews, Services .

Disclosure:  This is a sponsored post.  All opinions expressed are my own.

Well, Mother’s Day was approaching again, and I was having difficulty deciding what to get for my mother.  She literally has everything, and at this point in her life, if she doesn’t and she needs or wants it, she buys it.  So I brainstorm, what can I do for her that she will love for years to come, that will never get old, or go out of style?  A memory…. A memory lasts a lifetime… So that’s just what we did.

When I first checked out Kate’s website Kennedy Grace Photography, aside from her beautiful photographs two other things really stood out to me.

  1. She does mostly lifestyle, real life photography.
  • I love this, you can really see relationships, feel the atmosphere around the subjects, get a glimpse into what their lives are really like. Perfect for a Nana and her grandbabies.

2. She shoots at fun and interesting locations.

  • She takes her Christmas photos at a tree farm, has sessions at berry picking patches. They are original and adorable, and help to produce the realism that her photos emit.

I knew when I called Kate exactly where we would have to take these photos for my mother.  The New Jersey Botanical Gardens.  They are beautiful, they are near my mother’s house, and she happens to be a member (we go there with the kids often).  Once that was set I tried to think of what else would really make this special for her and decided that in addition I would take her to have her make up done with the amazing Denise Ruis  (she has an exclusive special add on rate just for RNYM).

Denise works her magic on my mother.

Denise Magic

After much deliberation the clothing choices were taken care of and the day was here.  Denise applied my mother’s makeup meticulously as always and it was so fantastic that my mother even purchased the lipstick.

I had spoken to Kate so many times that I felt like I already knew her, but even if I hadn’t her warmth made me feel like we were old friends.  She had already been around the grounds checking out spots to take photos and so off we went.  The kids, my mom and her husband were the subjects and it was nice to take a step back and let them enjoy.  They ran around from spot to spot, stopping to take photos along the way.

The photos are breathtaking.  Kate was able to capture my beautiful mother.  She captured the special relationship between her and my children.

She captured moments I am so glad she did.  For instance (E) has been afraid of my step-father for ages (he’s 6’8”), today she decided she was going to grab his hand and walk around with him.  This was a first, a really, really sweet first, and I have it on film (or .jpg anyway).

View More: http://kennedygracephotography.pass.us/meggallerylogo

She also captured some amazing shots of my mother and step-father. This is especially sweet and something that made my mother so glad that we did this.

Best of all is that my mother loves them.  She is so happy.  I’ve ordered prints, and a mug and she has something to hold on to.  So do my kids and I.  It was difficult to pick and choose from all of the awesome memories.

View More: http://kennedygracephotography.pass.us/meggallerylogo

View More: http://kennedygracephotography.pass.us/meggallerylogo

While we were looking through there were some special things that we realized took a trained eye and made the photos as beautiful as they are.  We knew that the gardens were beautiful, but for my untrained eye, I would have taken close ups of many of the photos that Kate did not, she took them from further out and got the whole scene.  Thank goodness she did, otherwise we would have missed out on the majestic surroundings.  I really think that the photos speak for themselves.

View More: http://kennedygracephotography.pass.us/meggallerylogo

Kate edited and had the photos back to me within a week.  She was so sweet she even snuck in one photo of me off to the side with (E).  I love that photo too, we had no idea.  Kate is a doll, the pictures are amazing.  My mother is happy.  Perfect day.

To contact Kate for a session you can check out her website: http://www.kennedygracephotography.com/  or her facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/KennedyGracePhotography Kate still has her May Special going on right now, and stay tuned for her upcoming on location shoots which will include, a lake, berry picking, and more!!!

Faeries for a Cause

Posted on May 7, 2015 by RocklandNYMom Posted in Good Cause, Photo Obsessed, Photography, Reviews .

I love a good charity, and no one has to twist my arm for photos, usually.  When I came across this advertisement for a fundraiser for the March of Dimes I thought it was absolutely adorable and something my readers might be interested. So I shared it, but I wasn’t planning on participating in it.  I am happy to report that I was correct.  You all were into it, and shortly after posting it I started getting messages from many of you saying that you were interested but you wanted to see mine first.  I should explain… I wasn’t going to participate because my children are photographed a lot, not because I didn’t love the idea, I really love the idea, I just fear that my kiddos will have enough one of these days… BUUUTTTT once you all started asking me to I agreed (it didn’t take much convincing). I was there a week ago, and here’s how it went.

Firstly, here is the deal… More info can be found HERE

  • Session fee is $50 per child, which includes an 8 x 10 print of your child(ren). 100% of this goes to March of Dimes.
  • There are a la carte options for purchasing additional poses or prints or both. A portion of these fees goes to the March of Dimes
  • Your photo is entered into a voting contest. Votes are $1 each and 100% of this goes to March of Dimes.
  • If you are one of the top 13, your photo goes into a calendar that is sold for $15. 100% of this goes to March of Dimes.

I made my appointment (click here to do the same) and was able to get in very quickly.  (E) loves to play dress up so I was not too worried that she wouldn’t have a good time.  I chose not to bring (A) because he has so many after school activities and it would be near impossible to book for him.  I was also a little worried that he may not be into it.

It took just about an hour to get to the studio, and it was not hard to find.  We were brought in and taken to a dressing room where there were several different outfits, wings and headpieces to choose from.  We let (E) choose her own.  It ended up being perfect, and not what I might have picked if it was my choice so the girl has got style.

(E) chooses her costume.  She chose the one that was so a-typical, and I am SO glad she did.

Once dressed we walked into the studio itself where magical music played in the background.  Instead of just throwing (E) into the scene and forcing photos, they just allowed her to walk around, to get accustomed to the setting.  She was able to explore the animals, the “water”, the flowers, everything.  While she walked around, the flash stated going off.  Totally naturally.  The photographer asked (E) if she could do certain things (look into something, talk to an animal, etc.) and she did.  The staff had some little tricks for getting her to look in certain places, and for getting her to smile.

Ready for her close-up!

The photographer was so patient, allowing her time to get used to the surroundings.

(E) really loved the fan blowing in her face, she looked like she enjoyed being a “star”.  She enjoyed walking around the magical set.  When we first walked in there were some toys in the area for parents to stand and she fell in love with a blue wrench.  Instead of being upset that she wouldn’t let it go (nope not even to play with the set), they were able to incorporate it into the photos, hiding it to get her to look inside or at a certain place.

They were able to get (E) to look in certain places because of the wrench.

Wrench in LightYep its in that little ball too ;O)

Once the shoot ended the tough part started.  Which photo to choose.  This is always the toughest part and the faerie session was no exception.  All of the photos were breathtaking.  I was patiently walked through them with a yes, no, maybe process that really helped me to narrow them down.  We spoke about the editing process (which takes place after you make your choice).  After making that big decision there are some packages you can choose from if you would like more photos than the 8 x 10 that comes with the deal.  You can also purchase photos a la carte.

(for a special surprise, download the free app “Vivaloo” and use the key word Faeries to see video of (E)’s session).

I ADORE my photo.  I am GLAD that I did it.  It may not be something that I ever do again, but I have this beautiful keepsake of my little girl.  Since completing my session I have shown the photos to several of my friends, who quickly signed up for sessions.  I can say with true confidence that it was fun for both of us, and the money goes to an amazing cause.  It is a really fun and innovative way to fundraise.  Everyone walks away happy.  Except maybe (A) who said that he wished he could have gone too.. and I thought he wouldn’t be into it (go figure).

Gotta Have Faith!

Disclosure:  This is a sponsored post as I was invited to a session with Jennifer Tesker Photography.  All opinions expressed are my own.

I started my relationship with Jennifer Tesker Photography back in October when she joined our Photographers Directory.  We planned our session for the spring minis and since then I have been waiting and watching.  If you follow photographers on Facebook, it is truly amazing to see their work.  Watching Jennifer’s has been a true pleasure.  As time passed, I was more and more excited to visit her with the kiddies.

As always I spent hours trying to pick out the perfect outfit, messaging poor Jennifer back and forth.  She was always so lovely about it (even though I think I would drive myself crazy).  I had great difficulty picking out the perfect dress for (E) and she told me not to worry she had plenty of things that she could wear.  Boy she wasn’t kidding (E proceeded to have 3 wardrobe changes, which is awesome as E can be a diva).  Gotta have faith in your photographer.

Walking into Jennifer’s studio is like dress up and toy heaven.  My kids were amazed and so was I.  They went right to playing and despite my wanting to stop them Jennifer encouraged it, quietly watching and determining what types of tools she could use with the kiddies.  There were so many choices for hair bows and tu-tus, and ruffles.  Then there was the chairs, boxes, baskets and delivery truck, forget it my kids were obsessed.  Specifically (A) needed to get his hands on that delivery truck.

Well you can see we put poor Jennifer through the ringer.  WE had a blast and I hope she did too.  (A) even made a play date with Jennifer and her two lovely girls.  There were a few times that I got super nervous about the session.  (A) and (E) were not cooperating the way I would have liked, one smiled when the other decided to sit, the other.  One slouched while the other kept getting up from the chair… and one is of an age where you can reason, while the other listens mostly.  I tried not to get frustrated with them but I was nervous.  How am I supposed to review a session if my children aren’t cooperating? Gotta have faith in your photographer.

Jennifer handled it all with amazing grace.  She found ways to get them to cooperate, she learned from each and every one of their movements their personalities and used it (right down to the sweet, sweet photo of my darling daughter in a tu-tu and cowboy boots, the one where she is holding Skye her favorite pup, and the money truck shot).  She reassured me that she got some amazing shots and she was so right.  As I wrung my hands together for the few days it too her to edit (was super quick), she calmly edited and then put up the teasers on her Facebook page that would set my nerves at ease.

When taking a 4.5 year old and a 21 month old for photos you have to be prepared for the best and the worst.  They never seem to stop, how could someone possibly.  Gotta have faith in your photographer.

How does one measure success?  I would say one good shot of the pair, and one good one of each.  These go far beyond that.  Despite my worries, the pictures are amazing.

The money shot.  (A) is so in love with this, that when he saw it he kissed the screen, and then said he wanted it put up in his room… Wait, a photo that not only I love but my kids do too??

I like pictures, his wish is my command.

Due to the high demand of her spring minis Jennifer has just opened up another date with limited bookings.
