Subway Sounds

Live music on Transit Museum’s historic subway platform

Saturday and Sunday, August 9 – 10, 11:30 am – 4 pm

On the weekend of August 9 and 10, the Transit Museum will get groovy with two full days of live music! With a memorable backdrop of vintage subway cars on the Museum’s platform level, guests will enjoy family-friendly performances from a classical string quartet, percussionist, clarinetist, oud player, jazz guitarist, vocalist, and more! This special “Underground Summer!” event is free with Museum admission, and no registration is required. Music will be ongoing from 11:30 am to 4 pm on both days.

The Transit Museum is housed in the decommissioned but still operational Court Street subway station, opened by the IND in 1936. The platform level features over 20 vintage subway cars dating back to the turn of the century, from classic 1904 wooden rolling stock originally used on the old Brooklyn Els to the subway car design that set the standard in 1914. Don’t miss this chance to dance amid transit history!
