A Truly Unique Baby Boutique- My Sweet Pea

I recently had the opportunity to check out My Sweet Pea a unique baby boutique in New City, NY. This was a real pleasure, because I pass the store almost every day. I have on so many occasions said that I have to stop in and check it out, boy and I glad that I did. As a self-proclaimed etsyaholic (is that even a word?) I was so excited to walk in and find many of the items that I have recently been Pinning for my kids!

Sheri has an amazing collection of specialty items, and her boutique is one of the best kept secrets in the County. It’s nothing like what you see in a typical chain children’s store. This is the type of store that you go to when you are looking to make an impression. There are personalized furniture pieces that can be painted not only with the name of your little one, but also with the theme that you are looking for. There are what seems like an endless supply of hair bows (both clips and soft headbands). There are knit hats with flowers and baseballs. You name a specialty item, My Sweet Pea, has it. In fact, the other day I was looking for a tu tu and an embroidered onesie for my daughters first birthday. They are super cute and all over the Smash Cake photos we have seen on the internet. Here’s the personalized part, if you do not see the graphic that you are looking for it can be made for you, as can the matching tu tu. In fact, a few months ago when I was searching for a Christening Gown I asked friends and family where to go. I should have gone to My Sweet Pea. She has them, she also has the diaper covers, lacy socks, onesies, shoes and other accessories that you would need. I ordered all of mine on the internet because I couldn’t find them. Sheri also carries special occasion dresses and suits for toddlers. There are even diaper bags for dads that are completely inconspicuous. No one would ever know what type of bag it is.

While I was there I asked Sheri where she gets all of her specialty items. She mentioned that before she carries an item she makes sure that no one else within a 25-50 mile radius carries them, Sheri wants to remain unique. Some of her items are not even from suppliers. She has many items that are made by local artisans. . That is the case with the tu tu and onesie that I am going to purchase. Sheri also helps local artists who do specialized favor cookies and cakes for parties. She has books of cake designs and cookies that can be shown and ordered through the shop.

Another way that My Sweet Pea is unique is the hours of operation. Although Sheri has set hours, she will also accommodate special requests. She will set up personal shopping when you are available so that you can still get that special gift of item fit into your crazy schedule. If you call in advance and need help with a stroller or toddler, she will even meet you in the parking lot to help you to the door. Its old school service, with specialized items that no one else has. If you like her Facebook page Sheri announces every time a new item comes into the store, so it keeps you updated. Just this week she announced that she has Mommy and Me coats for girls, and Daddy and Me dress shirts for boys. There have been so many times that I have waited too long on a baby registry, or was unsure what to get a friend when a new baby was born, but I now know where I will be going! When I really want to make an impression I will be heading over to My Sweet Pea in New City.

As an aside: After my visit I was running around like a crazy person, without knowing I had overbooked myself and my family (again). We had to be at a birthday party for a very special young man and I hadn’t made it to the store to get him a gift, and the gift had to be special. To add insult to injury, the way out the door I also realize I do NOT have a hat for my 4 month old daughter that fits. Well we headed over to My Sweet Pea and while my husband waited in the car with the kids I was able to find the CUTEST hat, and a fantastic gift for our little buddy. Not only did they help me pick out the gift, but they wrapped it up right then and there. I really can’t say enough good things about the service and selection there!
